Batidas proposes a new visual identity system for the Brazilian banknotes, one of the most relevant iconographic elements of a nation. Based on a personal graphic interpretation, Batidas is a project in search of the Brazilian essence, of what identifies and unites us as people and nation. Here, the Batidas are from the northeast to the south, from samba to funk. Rhythm, the project’s guiding theme, is multiple, timeless, and democratic. Brazil has its own pulse: composed of diverse beats, which interact and mix. In our country, the pace of life blends with music – which is our word, our swing, our soul. And, just like its people, it comes from the mixture.

The project pays tribute to 10 musical rhythms, from different parts and contexts of Brazil, which together make up our identity.
